Daisetsuzan National Park

　 There are beautiful scenes in this sacred place. Mother Nature has been very generous to central Hokkaido , endowing it with pure white snow, colorful alpine flowers and abundant hot springs . The Ancient people called this place "The Garden of the gods".

　 Daisetsuzan National Park is the largest National Park ( 230,000 ha ) in Japan . There are mountains of about 2,000 m and various forest regions. In this region, there are diverse plants and animals; over 200 kinds of alpine plants ; around 140 kinds of bird s ; and some mammals and other unique creatures that the park is home to . Mt. Asahidake ( 2,290 m ) is the highest mountain in this range. You can use the ropeway to reach the halfway point. This area is called " Sugatami " , which is famous for its beautiful flowers and lakes. It is busy with climbers in summer .
